The drawing is a self portrait. I utilized a picture I took of myself prior to drawing it. In this case, I took a picture of the front of my face with the highly popular “selfie” pose. Taking into account that I’m not really a selfie person already (can you tell by my face?), this selfie was more awkward. The snap made me remember of the abnormal times we are in. I confess that throughout the drawing process, I fell into deep thoughts about this whole quarantine situation. Just looking into one face, my own, I remembered “yea, this is how it is right now” and felt the distance I have with everyone else at the moment. It motivated me though as I knew that this piece will be a piece that I may look back one day when hopefully everything goes back to normal.
