How QCC’s LGBTQ+ Students Can Find Support

At Queensborough, the Ally LGBTQ Club prides itself on creating a safe environment that is inclusive and supportive of student diversity in the areas of sexual orientation and sexual identity/expression, as well as, promoting awareness and respect. AI in the Classroom: Queensborough ’s Response to a Transformative Technology

“AI is not a one-size-fits-all tool,” said Professor Karan Puri from the mathematics department and a member of QCC’s committee for AI. “In some courses, it can enhance learning, while in others, it raises concerns about academic honesty. That’s why having department-specific policies is crucial.” 

What Do College Students Think of a Possible Ban on Tiktok?

Although most students are against a ban on Tiktok, some think that it is for the better. Nineteen year old college student, Anthony, says “Tiktok does a lot more harm to people than we realize. It’s used to spread radical political ideologies, fear mongering, and trends that like to sexualize women and children. I genuinely think that Tiktok causes more harm than good and me personally, would love to see it go.”

How Trauma Can Affect College Performance

When asked, “Do you ever struggle with motivation, procrastination, or burnout due to past trauma?” 78% of students responded yes. Despite these struggles, only 30% had sought support from campus counseling services and most who did found counseling helpful. When asked whether professors and academic advisors understood the challenges faced by students with past trauma, the majority agreed that most professors were understanding.
